Temari
▪ t e m a r i ▪ He's making that weird panting sound again. I shuddered, I hate it when he does that. The fact that he's practically mute every other time doesn't make it any better, in fact he's been completely silent this entire trip other than his breathing. Usually when he's like this I try my best to avoid speaking to him, avoid him all together, but after hours of traveling I could sense him becoming more and more tense as we approached the Leaf village.
"Gaara, are you alright?" I broke the silence
No reply. I glanced over at him following behind me, he had his eyes down, wheezing. Occasionally he would bring his hand up to his forehead and wince or clench his eyes shut. I've never been able to figure out what triggers it, but it's happening a lot more frequently lately. I asked him again if he was alright, but he still ignored me. I turned back around and took a deep breath. My chest was burning, you'd think after years of being around him I would have gotten used to the occasional… unsteadiness. But I haven't. My brother hasn't either. I looked over to Kankuro, his face was as white as a sheet of paper. He gets the most spooked. He looked forward only, shoved his hands into his pockets and every once in a while tripped up on his own feet. He was really starting to get shaken up.
"So," I started, looking to ease tension. I felt nauseous and talking sometimes seemed to ease my mind. I grabbed the material tied around my waist and twirled it in my hand. As we neared the village I could see the tops of buildings poking over the horizon of trees. Village hidden in the Leaf. Too many leaves for me, in fact it was too green. Coming from the desert, you get used to the dry heat and the sand storms. The air was too damp here, and it was a lot chillier than back home. I crossed my arms and continued, "What kind of genin do you think we can expect from the Leaf village?"
"Talentless" Kankuro laughed after no hesitation, squinting his eyes and letting out that loud obnoxious laugh that I've come to really hate. If there's one thing I know about my brother, it's that his head is big and his attention span is short. The paleness in his face cleared and I was somewhat relieved and annoyed at the same time. I wish I was as distractible, but the truth is I was slightly nervous about the whole thing, especially with Gaara's condition.
"Just remember to keep on your toes, " I said. We arrived at the gates to the Leaf Village. There was a crowd of other genin waiting their turn to be let in. A group of Jounin waited at the front, checking the identification of each individual new person to arrive that were from outside villages. Some were ushered in after a handshake and a smile and some were turned away. I could hear a yelling match between a Leaf Village Jounin and a team of genin who were not allowed past the gates, but I couldn't quite see what was happening from behind the sea of people in front of me. I stopped when I reached the crowd, and turned to my brothers "Guess this is it." Kankuro squinted his eyes and let out a long exasperated sigh. "How long is this going to take? What a pain in the ass." He mumbled.
I took a look around the sea of competition surrounding us. No doubt these were the people we would go head-to-head against in the next couple of days. I scanned their faces, their weapons, their teammates. It wasn't quite what I was expecting.
These next few weeks are going to be interesting.

Two leaf kunoichi and a shinobi stood near the line to get in. The older one already wore a chuunin vest but it was upgraded to that of jounin rank. She looked to be in her mid 20's at most. Blue hair flowed down her back and a single strand rested on either side of her face. Her red eyes scanned the crowd in interest. "Looks like all the villages churned out some interesting genin this year. We can only hope they don't pull any fast ones on us this time." she said looking over at one of the other Jounin.
She sighed and ran a hand through her hair. She could tell that the blonde next to her was going to be a handful. "Naruto for the love of Konoha stand still or I will use Kakashi's secret finger jutsu on you." she said pinching the bridge of her her nose.
Naruto, Konoha's number one hyperactive knuckleheaded ninja, looked over at the jounin. She was pretty, he'd give her that much, But using that jutsu on him? He laughed and waved his hand. "I'm going to become hokage one day. Then you won't be able to use jutsu on me ever again. Believe it!" he yelled loudly. It made a few people start whispering about him. Many couldn't understand why the kid was allowed to be in the exam when he had a monster inside him. On top of that, it seemed like Kasumi was unfazed by this fact.
Naruto looked over at the girl with them. He only knew her name. "Oi, Kazeno don't you dare lose. You're one of the people I want to fight most after Sasuke." he said grinning goofily.
Akira chuckled and patted him on the back. She had long brown hair in a ponytail and her headband was on her forehead. "Same goes for you Uzumaki. I wanna see just how strong the future Hokage is. Otherwise eat my chakra!" she said laughing. The two definitely had their quirks. Naruto was hyperactive, while Akira thought before she leaped. It wouldn't surprise Kasumi or Kakashi if they passed. The next few weeks would be interesting.
Kasumi's head spun towards Kotetsu when he gave her a hand sign. She was to hide among the genin and catch any who were too obvious in their information gathering skills. "I just forgot... I got this thing I have to help Kotetsu with." she said using a hand sign and vanishing in a puff of smoke.

The two twins entered the village together. One looked around enthusiastically while he took in the sights of a village so far away from home. There were vendors on the streets and all sorts of open stall stands which sold merchandise to anybody that came out to the village for the event. He hopped from one to the other, often pointing out various trinkets and foods that were not available to him at his own home. The other was much more reserved. Her eye scanned scanned the houses and the crowds for any sign of caution and looked for any oddity that presented itself to her. She did not show it in her expression, but Mitsue was just as excited as her brother was to be in the unfamiliar territory.
"Mitsue," he called to her. They had only been in the town for a few minutes and his arms were already full of merchandise that they really didn't have the space to carry. He shuffled everything around in his arms so he could hold out a stick with a hot dumpling on it. "You really need to try this one." It was simply exquisite with the way the flavors seemed to melt in his mouth. He waved the stick in front of her like one would do when teasing a cat. This cat was not interested in the slightest. "If you don't take it I'll give it to Satoru instead."
The female grit her teeth and glared at the male. She wasn't interested in all that sticky crap and did not appreciate it being stuck in her face. The face itself made her brother recoil as though he had touched a hot iron. The stick fell from his hands and flopped onto the ground. Kohei gave a fake sob and went to dust it off. It only caused him to drop the rest of what was in his hands at that moment and make a mess in the streets.
"Oh! Don't worry about it Mitsue, darling. I got it," he told her. The male knew that his sister wouldn't mind in the first place. That was made evident as she just stepped over his purchases and continued towards the school. The pair could be late if they did not hurry. Hopefully the other member of their team was faring a lot better. Kohei and Mitsue had ditched him the second they entered the village. On Mitsue's part, it was not intentional. Her brother took hold of his sister's arm and charged forward without so much as a second thought. She was convinced that Satoru was a big boy. It would not be too hard for him to navigate the city on his own. It would not surprise her if she and her brother arrived at the academy with their other teammate waiting on them.
The girl just turned her head and watched other ninjas that zoomed by on the roofs of the buildings. The only worry Mitsue had was that they would be late. Her brother didn't seem to mind as much. His arms were once again piled with his spoils. Kohei ran past her and called out to her.
"C'mon slow poke. If we miss the test it'll be your fault."
With a roll of her eye, Mitsue continued on at her own leisurely pace.

Kouketsu arrived within the village on the notice he got on there being a chuunin exam. He hadn't minded who he would be paired up with as long as they didn't stand in his way of getting promoted to Chuunin. Regardless, he was rather excited, he just didn't necessarily show it. He walked with a confident stride, as most Uchiha did. His two katana lay at his side and he had an arsenal of Katon jutsu. Now, it may not be all that much, but they could still prove useful. If that wasn't enough he had the one tomoe, a prized possession in the clan that allowed him to see and copy all. He could copy jutsu in the Katon and movements.
It would turn out to be a cinch to win these exams and Kouketsu like the odds. They were in his favor, he just hoped his allies could keep up with him. Hopefully they weren't too much of a burden. His katana rattled as he strolled past all the extravagant sights. For him it wasn't anything new, as he had been living in this village for quite some time. All the food, sights, and scenery proved to be rather boring after a while and could very well get old. Kouketsu let out a sigh and just kept with the pace of his strides.
Kouketsu was headed towards the academy where he had previously graduated from. He was fully aware how many shinobi could be present for these Chuunin exams but he anticipated it. He decided to make a plan for each situation or setting they were going to be pit into to. Him and his friends would win these events and nothing could stop them, well as long as they didn't get too caught up in themselves. Kouketsu disregarded the negative side to the thought and kept on, finally arriving at the academy for young shinobi.

Kankuro
I knew this place would be filled with punks. I shoved my hands in my pockets and rolled back onto my heels, back, forth, back, forth. I occasionally kicked dirt up, digging a hole with the tip of my toes. Were they going to let us in any time today? Maybe I'll just dig a tunnel into the leaf village with my foot. The written exam starts in a little less than an hour and a half and at this rate we'd be lucky to make it two steps forward in that time. Not to mention some of the Jonin up ahead were casually talking to one another, laughing and joking around. It may be some big event for them but I didn't come all the way here to not make it on time. I wrinkled my nose, brought my hand up to my head and ran my fingers through my hair, yawning. I shot a glance to Temari. She wasn't looking, she was too busy scanning the crowd. So I yawned louder.
She still didn't hear me.
Either that or she was ignoring me. She likes to do that, actually she does it all the time. It's a real pain in the ass, you could yell right in her ear and she'd pretend she didn't hear you. It would actually be sort of amazing if it didn't make me so angry all the time. And she only does it with me which is another thing that pisses me right off. She knows exactly how to push my buttons, you get that way when you grow up with someone. Fortunately for me that's a two way street. I raised my arms up, stood on my tip toes and stretched, yawning a little bit louder. She finally broke.
"What is it, Kankuro?" She hissed.
Success. Now that I have her attention, I'll casually act like it wasn't intentional. "What? I'm just stretching." She made an annoyed face and turned away from me again. I looked over to Gaara, and broke eye contact as quick as I had made it. He was looking right at me. I cleverly pretended like it was an accident and began to whistle and turn my head the other way, feeling my stomach constrict and turn. I'm not entirely sure it was the greatest idea that we brought him, sometimes I really wished he didn't exist. And then I sometimes feel bad for wishing that, but either way, it's the truth.
What's even truer, though, is the fact that our chances of getting through this thing are a thousand times higher simply because he's with us. With Gaara on our team, there's absolutely no way we could lose, I won't even have to work at it. Still though, I haven't seen that look on his face for a long time, a very long time. And even though I'd like to pretend that it doesn't, it really does scare me.
"Kankuro, are you coming?"
I startled out of my day dream, picking my head up and looking around, Temari was way ahead of me, waving me towards her. The crowd had slimmed down quite a bit, and I began working my way towards her, pushing other genin out of the way. You'd think they were made of paper the way they dramatically shoved to the side. Glancing up at me with big sorrowful eyes, and that kind of look that says "Please beat me up Kankuro", but painfully, I declined.
I approached the Jonin at the front, he put his hand out and I showed him my ID. After a quick glance he ushered me in, followed by Temari and then Gaara. Now, where is that academy?

Mako walked to the gates of the leaf village. When he got to the guard ninjas he handed them his I.D papers. He was wearing an armor chestplate with the arms exposed and standard ninja pants and sandals. Becides his pants all his clothes where weighted for his physical training. His chestplate had his sword's scabbard tied to the back of it. His Mist headband was tied on his heavily tattooed and scared arm.
He got his papers back and made his way to leaf academy. He watch and studied those who made their way there as well including the sand three. "Get out of my way." he said pushing past Tamari and Kankuro. He was interested in there of the people he passed Kankuro was one of them. The other people who he noted so far was Naruto and Gara. He made his way to Naruto. "You so called next Hokage If that would happen. tell me where is the academy." he said to Naruto gripping his blades handle. He was testing the waters a little bit to see who Naruto would react to him.

{They cannot know who you are. They can not know who you are.}
The phrase rang like a chime through the kunoichi's head as she made her way to the gates of Konoha. If not for inheriting her mother's crimson locks, she would have been the spitting image of him. And while the fact that she was from the sound village was stated on her registration papers, there were no records of her being his daughter. She avoided missions to the Land of Fire for this exact moment. If she was recognized by anyone, her father's plans could be ruined, let alone her chances of becoming a Chuunin. No, she wouldn't let her father down. Not here.
Curtaining her golden eyes with her hair, she turned in her registration papers and briskly made her way through the gates. Though she would never admit it, she was extremely nervous. It wasn't due to the exams themselves; she was fairly intelligent and judging from the competition, would have a very enjoyable time testing her power. It was the fact that she was in enemy territory, and knew absolutely no one.
Kinari found a small puddle on the way to the academy to double check her make-up and bandages. The markings on her eyes, identical to her father's, were painted over, and her clan mark was wrapped up tightly. Perfect. Straightening out her sound ninja headband, the child continued walking in silence. Everything would go as planned. Orochimaru would be proud of her. She was sure of it.

Satoru had passed through the village with his head tilted up, hands stuffed in the pockets of his black pants, dark eyes trained on the sky. The twins had dealt with the jonin of this village, taking care of the paperwork and allowing the boy to stay in his dazed state. His feet were moving automatically for him, keeping track of his two teammates in his peripheral vision. If they halted, he halted. They turned, he turned. They moved forward, he moved forward.
The trip between Kumo and Konoha had not exactly been a short one. As exciting as a change of scenery was, everything was only so interesting for so long. The more time spent traveling through a forest, the more apparent that it all looked exactly the same - dark and full of trees. To make matters worse, whatever wildlife that did happen to live there seemed to keep to themselves. Suffice it to say, Satoru had grown bored very quickly. By the time they had arrived at the village, any excitement that he had previously possessed had long since burned out for him. Konoha really didn't look that much different from Kumo. Less rocky, more plantation, sure, but after having spent as much time in the forests as he had, the village it was built around wasn't particularly impressive. Quite a sufficient amount of time had been spent like this. A long chain of thoughts had started from why the sky was blue, eventually leading to the boy pondering over if he was able to truly tell if he was color blind or not. However, the chain ended there, becoming a continuous loop of possibilities, never coming up with any actual answer.
Satoru became faintly aware of how quiet his party had become. There were certainly more hyperactive kids than Kohei, and perhaps the long trip should justify him being tired, but he was being unusually quiet. They had also been there for quite a while, so shouldn't they have found the academy by now? It took a more quiet strip of the street to notice a faint panting noise, then there was the fact that their sensei...
"Wait."
Their sensei hadn't come with them.
The boy rolled his head back forward, seeing the trio he had been following for the first time and stopping in his tracks. Satoru couldn't help but notice how they looked absolutely nothing like his actual teammates, causing his cheeks to burn in shame. These people weren't even from the same village as him, unless he had missed a team carrying a gourd, fan, and mummy on their backs, respectively. Before he could even think to stop himself from asking, he folded his arms over his his padded flak jacket, a frown creasing his expression as he inquired, "Is this even still the leaf village?"

Red hair flowed behind the young genin as she walked to the Konoha village, I pursed my lips into a line as I looked around at all of the genin around me. They were all happily talking and getting themselves prepared for the Chuunin exams. I squinted into the sun as I continued to walk; it was too warm here and the visibility made me nervous. I am use to Kirigakure- there was always a hint of surprise in my village. You were always partly camouflaged, which was also a disadvantage for everyone because you were never certain or not if you were being followed. It was dangerous and adventurous, in this village it was far too sunny and warm, it put a bad taste in my mouth.
No one here knows what I am, what I have lurking in me.
It felt good to know that, it felt good to know that the village wouldn't ostracize me for being a monster. No one here knew that I had a winged demon that was always pushing me away from people and being apart of who I am. That was one thing I liked about Konoha, it was a clean slate. No one knew about my past, my winged demon Kurokami. He was always there; but in this exam I wouldn't need him with me.
What kind of a team will I have I thought to myself, the thought a nerve racking one as I planted my hands into the pockets of my shorts and continued to walk through the buzzing crowd. I tried not to get any attention and simply walk forward and show my I.D. card and get into the academy and do my tests. I wasn`t here to make friends, get friendly with others or anything; I was here to dominate and to get through the next few days and return to my village a Chuunin.
I averted my eyes from the eyes of the others as I trudged through the crowd, trying not to push anyone. It was such a pain to have this many people all loping around, what were they all doing anyways. They should be preparing to go into the academy. I reached the gate and pulled my I.D. from my pocket and showed them and nodded as they waved me through. Walking past them I inhaled slowly and looked at the crowd and for the academy.

Kankuro
I heard Gaara stop behind me, and it sent a sudden jolt of adrenaline rush through my body. I jumped to face him, "What? What? What is it?" I noticed he had turned to face another fellow who seemingly was lost. "Eh?" I swallowed hard, I was just being jumpy, I guess. When Gaara makes any sort of sudden movement it generally drives me up the wall. I shook my head and brought my hand up to my head, Temari was already lost in the crowd by the time I looked over my shoulder to find her. That made me even more nervous.
I examined the boy who had been tagging behind us, he had thick short brown hair covering one eye, thin as a twig and he seemed as though he had been daydreaming. Where was the rest of his team? I could tell he was here for the Chunin exams judging by the fact that he carried his weapons with him, I took a quick look over them. I furrowed my brow, shifting my weight to one foot and looking around again for Temari. I noticed Gaara slowly take a menacing step toward him and the insides of my palms became sweaty.
"How can you possibly not know what village you're in?" I could feel my voice shake at the beginning of the sentence, that made me frustrated. I did my best to look intimidating but I had single-handedly ruined any my chance of that. I shot a quick glance at Gaara, he was staring at me now, I shuffled my feet and shoved my shaking hands into my pockets after swallowing hard again.
"Kankuro, shut up." a monotonous voice wheezed from my brother's lips and my heart rate shot up. He exchanged a cold glance with me and I squinted my eyes and slowly backed up, my throat was dry.
"Yeah, yeah sure, sorry, Gaara."
He pulled his gaze from me and instead focused his dagger-like eyes onto the boy behind us. I felt a thin hand against my shoulder and I whipped around again, it was Temari. She turned her concerned gaze toward Gaara, and then the boy.
"I'm sorry, but do you know where the academy is?" She asked, slowly working her way between Gaara and the boy who had tagged behind us.

Satoru could not conceal a cringe when they turned back to look at him, twitching between that and a frown. These people were... that boy... something about him was unsettling. Satoru could have dismissed it as him simply being paranoid with the new revelation that his teammates had dumped him if it weren't for the fact that the old boy in the black hood seemed just as intimidated. Weren't they on the same team? Yeah, so why would he be scared? Why was he staring like that?
Satoru ran his tongue over his lips, eye contact flickering between the two, as he was unsure of where he should be looking. The boy almost visible shrank beneath the red head's gaze, drawing all parts of himself closer to his body. No pupils, no eyebrows, dark eyelids, cold stare...
He refrained from shuddering in time for the older one to address him. "Ah, well, you see-" Satoru began to stumble out, but his confidence betrayed him, trailing off into softer filler words when the smaller boy redirected his gaze to Kankuro. This was uncomfortable. Beyond uncomfortable. The boy cursed himself for speaking in the first place. He would have definitely preferred to just figure everything on his own.
Satoru's head snapped in the direction of the blonde the moment she spoke up, eyebrows lifting and eyes widening, unable to mask the initial pleading look from his face. Then, however, the relief washed over him. Okay, she seemed normal. His fingers unhooked from where they had unwittingly begun to embed themselves in his arms. The shift of unwinding himself had been subtle, the boy able to assume as cool of a demeanor as ever with a slow exhalation of a sigh. He was being silly, there was nothing to be afraid of.
"Oh, it's fine!" he piped, dropping his arms back down to his side. Satoru pressed his palms against his black pants, rubbing along the hem of his black pants to get rid of the perspiration he had not noticed collecting on his hands. Satoru's caught sight of the headband hanging around her neck, and proclaimed, mostly to himself, "Oh, Sand Village." He looked back up to her. "Not really. Do you guys have any idea?"

Kasumi had transformed herself into a teenage boy. Only a few people would be able to recognize that the attractive young man was actually a jounin in disguise. She walked over to the group of shinobi who seemed to be lost. "I can show you where the academy is." she said giving Temari a smile. Kotetsu and Izumo had taken on the form of two little kids around the same age as the rookie nine.
Naruto froze when he saw Mako reach for his sword. Something about this guy didn't feel right. "Yeah, you heard me right. I'm going to become Hokage, then people will respect me. As for the academy you're standing right in front of it." he said pointing up to the sign on the door. He could see there were a lot of suna and kumo shinobi here.

"Well my goal is to become the greatest Swordsmen the world has ever seen." He said pulling out his sword. The Blade was slowly materializing when his had gripped the hilt. He put the sword back in his scabbard. "Only time will tell if either of us will reach our goals." Mako said looking at Naruto as he made his way to the academy. He was ready for what every came his way. He felt uneasy as he walked int the school.

Temari
▪ t e m a r i ▪ I gently placed a hand on Gaara's shoulder and put a little pressure behind it, ushering him back towards Kankuro. He winced as if a snake had bit him and quickly pulled himself away from me. My heart constricted and I pulled my hands back, I clenched them together and brought them back in front of me. I looked back over to the boy before us. He watched the interactions between us carefully and I took a deep breath in. So shortly before the chunin exams and we've already displayed weaknesses through our dynamic towards eachother, a strong shinobi team works together well, understands eachother well, we just didn't have that.
"Oh, it's fine!" he exclaimed.
I smiled sternly, after he explained he did not know where he was, I put my hands on my hips and gave another long sigh. "Not sure, actually," I started, shaking my head. "We just got here, it's our first time in this village. What about you? Wheres the rest of your team?" I asked curiously. I heard Kankuro gave a bored sigh behind me, and I shot a sharp look back towards him. He had his hands shoved in his pocket slowly taking small steps away from Gaara. He was about as subtle as a sledgehammer. "Stop." I said, and he shrugged towards me, in that sort of way that says 'what did i do?', but he knew full well what he did.
I turned my attention back to our shadow. "I'm sorry, anyways, I'm sure it's around here somewhere-"
"I can show you where the academy is."
I spun around, a young teenage boy approached me, smiling. I looked back to him, noticing the two kids who seemed to be very attached to him, following him. Something seemed a little off about the newcomer, but I couldn't put my finger on it. I nodded, looking back towards our shadow who had followed us here, and back to the new boy. "Alright then, that sounds great." I looked back at my brothers and tilted my head, "Let's go,"
Kankuro looked to Gaara first, waiting for him to take the first step. I rolled my eyes and turned back to boy, following him.

Kasumi nodded and led Temari and her brothers to the academy. Kotetsu and Izumo went to go delay the rookie nine. So far their disguises hadn't been figured out. "Its this way. Try not to get lost because I'm not a shinobi from your village so your safety isn't entirely my concern." She said showing them where to go.
